Valeria - 16

Sponsored by Hov Family
Valeria
Valeria is a new mom to her 8 month old son. She lives in an agricultural community in a tropical, rural region. Most people in this region try to work in the sugar cane fields which is seasonal, dangerous and the wage is very low resulting in not being able to meet basic needs. In this community, disciplining with violence is culturally acceptable within families, and children are vulnerable to exploitation and neglect. When families struggle with poverty, kids often leave school to work. Getting access to healthcare and education proves challenging due to cost and distance. Valeria does have access to water and electricity but no access to toilets so proper sanitation methods are difficult. Valeria is not in school at this time because of recently giving birth, but the goal is to have her return to complete her diploma. Valeria is in our MOMS mentorship program where along with biblical discipleship, she gains better knowledge about nutrition and healthcare for her child as well as parenting, employment and life skills. Your sponsorship commitment will help Valeria and her community get better access to resources and support that will empower them to break the cycle of poverty. Your sponsorship will help empower children and families, especially the most vulnerable, to create better futures.

She has recently moved to a new community to try and pursue working in a hotel and learning how to prepare desserts. This means however that she has left her 3 year old son in the care of his father and grandmother. Maria is trying to find her way in this world and we have seen a lot of growth in the last couple years but she still faces some major obstacles. We don't see too much of her as of recently but we try and stay as connected and supportive as possible as she is like part of our family.

He works in a small grocery store but the wage here is so low it is not enough to provide for all of Isaac's essential needs. In Need to supply needs for other children in this community
Support the community
We would love to see every child that needs it sponsored but if that doesn't happen there is still a great need for the community as a whole to be poured into. We have a monday after school program and we would love to see this expand to more days. We would to be able to provide more community meals and be able to meet the various needs that arise. Please consider becoming a monthly partner to help support this community and all the work Haven Heart does to serve vulnerable children and their families.
